DLI Workshop: The Anatomy of Acting

 (image: google)

Yesterday, 16th November, six Dóchas members took part in an exciting workshop organized by the Drama League of Ireland http://www.dli.ie
The workshop was held in Tralee by the well known and very experienced Actor/ Director/ Acting Teacher (Gaiety School of Acting) DAVID SCOTT.
Members from six other local Drama Groups also attended, in total 21. Minister Jimmy Deenihan kindly opened the day, with sincere wishes for the continued success and emphasising the importance of Amateur Drama in Ireland. He praised the hard work of volunteers such as Joanne Keane and Anne Makitarian for DLI, who were both present on the day, giving information and answering questions.
The workshop was as usual of very high standard, the information and tips given by David will prove invaluable in our next production and beyond. Thank you!

Torc Day Trip

Dramatic Landscape, lots of laughs, and standing ovations of a kind...

Our recent outing to Torc / Dinis as summed up by our Chairman:

Our final social outing of the year was a walk/climb up Torc Mountain with refreshments under glorious sunshine at Dinis Cottage, with a leisurely boat trip back to Muckross House.  9 members and 1 non-member took part. It was a challenging descent down Cardiac hill, but we have emerged richer for the experience.

Social outings like this are, I feel, very worthwhile and help to strengthen the bond between the Group. If it were only the toil of production, we may have a slightly more tedious association with what Dóchas stands for. It is great to socialise as a group and take our ease. It serves as a reward to the group for being a member, and for hard work done throughout the year.
We should endeavour to have more of this.
